A common mistake people make when learning to earn an income online is they start with the most common question How. Theres so much more than just how. To succeed online you really have to consider the Why, Where and Who before you consider the How. Well, if youre tired of digging through all the gimmicks and "Get Rich Quick" articles out there then youve come to the right place. I wish I could tell you earning income online is simple but its not. However, I can tell you, with enough time and effort it is something you can actually do.

Before I begin I must start with a small warning. This takes time. There is no overnight one click bank buster out there.
At least not within the realm of someone just starting out. But this can be done. Hell Im doing it and though Im not making millions I am earning enough to pay all my bills and save on the side. Its taken me two years to get to this point and I truly believe you can learn to earn faster than I did simply because youre going to start with the info its taken me two years to learn.

In this guide I'll cover the Top 5 Rules that helped me start earning online.

Ready? Lets begin.

Rule 1. Learn to Earn.

Before I can give you actionable steps and methods we need to discuss a bit of logic. Thats the thought process behind wanting to earn money online. You see most people fail for one big reason and that is: they dont actually want to do it. Yep. You read that right. You may want all that earning money online offers but do you want to be someone who works on their time off? Do you want to be someone who stays up late doing research, answering emails, attending to customers, coordinating with virtual assistants, learning how to optimize and make your products or websites better? You see most people focus on relaxing on the beach when they think of a vacation they want to take but when it comes time to put in the extra work it takes to save up for the cash to cover the cost of the trip. They bail. What Im getting at is the first rule to getting on the path to earning money online is you actually have to get off the fantasy train and come to terms with the fact that this is going to require quite a bit of learning and work. Im just being honest with you. Id love to tell you that its super easy and that I have three Ferraris and millions just from clicking a couple buttons but thats all bs. I guarantee if someone is flaunting their overnight online earnings its ultimately to get you hooked on their sales pitch so you go and buy their product. Youre going to have to take a hard look at yourself and ask: "What am I willing to do to make this happen?" The difference between people who are actually earning their income online and you is they know something you dont. They found a way to connect whatever it is their pushing, be it a website, info product, book, game, app, digital thingybobber, amazon product etc, with people who are wanting to hand them money for it. They took the time and they Learned how to Earn.

Rule 2 - Understand your Motivation (Why)

So, most people laugh when I ask them this one. They say..."well duh, I hate being in an office or I hate working at that warehouse and I want more time with my family or to earn more or to do things my way". Now, all those reasons are good and all but are they good enough to get you through the hard parts? The months of not earning a single dollar? The months of having no visitors? How about are those reasons good enough to get you to come to terms with the fact that this may take a lot longer than you thought? That youre really going to have to push yourself to make this happen. That in fact, in the beginning, that this may lead you in the complete opposite direction of what those reasons are? You see your why is the foundation of action. It is the thing youre going to have to focus on when things get tough. Youre going to have to dig deep at times and really really remind yourself why you are doing what your doing and if your why is as weak or general as "I wanna be rich yo" then youre just gonna give someone else your money as they sell you their "make a million dollars overnight in your sleep super duper product". Im not saying all of this to scare you off. Really Im not but I just want to be sincere here and say that most people really only fail at this because their why sucks. The process is not that hard. The how is not that hard. And I promise you there are many many ways to accomplish your goal of earning online. So many actually that I cant cover them all but I can promise you if youre really sitting there and youre willing to change who you are by dedicating yourself to an endgame that will push you and challenge you then youre going to make this happen with or without my guidance. (Though hopefully with since I wrote this nice article and all just for you) So Rule 2 is- Define your why. Really, sit down and think of how having an online income will help you. Think of what you truly want to change. Dig deep and write all this down because when you get into the really challenging stuff youre going to need to revisit those whys again and again. Frustration, wanting to quit, fear, doubt. They dont mean a thing compared to your why. If you allow yourself to be honest and come up with a why thats strong enough to push you through your fears and doubts and all the challenging stuff thats ahead of you then honestly no matter how challenging it gets youre going to find a way to make it.

So, have you defined your why? Ok, chin up, shoulders back, lets move on to the next rule.

Rule 3 -Have a Destination (Where)

Ever wanted to go somewhere? What about have you ever started going somewhere without a destination? Lets say you want to go to another country. Well, thats pretty broad. Thats like saying I want to get rich or I want a million bucks. Easy enough to say something like I want to go to Europe or Asia but youre going to have to narrow that down to a destination you can actually target. If your goal is too broad youre going to get lost along the way. You will not be able to define your how. Now dont get me wrong, saying my goal is to earn a million dollars is a realistic goal but what happens between now and then? Can you define that? Now if you say something along the lines of, Im going to study the systems available online, people who have succeeded and earned a million dollars and products that are in great demand so as to learn a way to earn my way to a million dollars, then Id believe you. You have to allow yourself to be specific and if you dont know the specifics yet dont worry we'll get to that but you have to know things like the destination. Whats the route you will take? Will you fly or will you drive? What is the exact address you are trying to get to? How will you get there from your point of arrival when you get to the country. What Im getting at here is that its never just Point A to Point B. There are steps along the way that force you to think and learn at each step. If youve ever looked up a location on google maps with the intention of using those directions to get to that destination then you completely ignored those directions and went the opposite direction would you ever reach that destination? Without a map (Action Plan) and a destination (Measurable Goal) that youve taken the time to sit and think out and prepare for youre never going to get to where youre going. Yes its easy to say I want to earn online but what do you want to do? Do you want to sell make up? Do you want to create videos? Do you want to write articles and promote other peoples products? Do you want to sell wholesale, sell on ebay, manage online media accounts? Each person is different. Each destination is different and how You get there will be different from many other people. You must take a moment to really think about things you enjoy because if you start pouring all the time and energy it takes to get an online business up and running, and you hate it, then youre kinda stuck. If you start by focusing on something that you enjoy, while you learn to earn then youre at least going to be working on stuff you enjoy. People earn money online taking pictures of dogs and rating them. They put those pictures on tshirts, make funny quotes, stylize the photo to look like artwork, sell calendars, hats, mugs etc and those businesses started from them just wanting to do something they enjoyed. Take the time to focus on your destination. Is it just income? Is it just working in your pajamas? Or, is it something more important to you? Something that you enjoy? Something that you can do for the rest of your life because if its one thing ive learned, people who are just doing it for the income rarely succeed. Their why is too weak, they force their way through the process but their destination is just money. They hate what theyre doing, theyre not earning enough to justify the effort and then they just burn out. There are thousands of routes you can take to earn an income online. The question now is which route will best serve you in getting to your destination?

Rule 4 -Know Your Customers (Who)

If your goal is to sell golf equipment on your own Shopify store then make sure your approach targets an audience who loves golf. Easy right? Well actually yeah, its pretty easy. I mean its easy when you know Who it is youre targeting. Now that parts not so easy. This part goes hand in hand with your Destination. Your where, because if your goal is to do something you love and earn an income then youre going to need to know who your audience is and how to get through to them.

Rule 5 - Learn your Routes (How)

And finally we come to the big question of How.

Find those who have accomplished what you want to accomplish and emulate them. Success leaves clues.

There are processes, methods, approaches, techniques and best practices. These are what you want to look out for. Not the guy with a fist full of cash saying you can get this by just buying my products. Look for a history. Look for a story. Look for growth over time. Look for who theyre influence by and learn more about them and what they offer. Then when youve found someone who you feel you can trust then and only then would I suggest that you invest in their training systems and products. Ive dug through what feels like hundreds of people claiming that they can help you get rich online. That they can teach you how to get your own business up and running in as little as 24 hours and you too will be making millions in no time. Even when they actually have products and when those products and learning systems actually have content theres never any real substance. They just glance over the steps, give you general rules of practice and then leave you on your own. Theyre richer, youre buried under more and more info and youre on a one way train to burn out while theyre on their way to buying a new car. Truth is, ive bought their stuff. I was so desperate and passionate and driven to learn how to do all this that I purchased a lot of these systems and what did I learn. First off that I was gullable and second that I was on the wrong end of the money exchange. They were receiving money and I was receiving a half assed thrown together product that was just there to push cash. I learned that lesson the expensive way. Thats why if you see me promoting someones product or service on here its because I really believe in them. Hands down, theyre people who offer substance. They really help elaborate and add substance to the topics I covered above and they do so in a way far better than I can.
